#55WordChallenge 11/17/2015

The consensus from my question last week seems to be that a little more time would be appreciated, so the new timeframe is listed below. Thank you everyone that sent me an answer.

For those that are uninitiated, the 55 Word Challenge is a contest to write a story in 55 words or less. Not an easy task, but fun and I have been blown away by some of the entries. See for yourself, past contests can be found here. The challenge begins at noon Eastern time every Wednesday, (unless like today, I am late, sorry) and ends at noon Friday.  I will try to have winners posted sometime on Sunday, but if I need to take some extra time, like if there are a lot of stories and they are all as excellent as they were this past week, I will post as soon after as possible-.  The story is based on one of three photo prompts. My only request is no porn. I don't want to hear graphic details. If it is erotic, make it titillating, not obscene. I know that can be done and done well.

Entries are to be posted in the comment section. I used to allow to post in your own blog, but that made it difficult for me, having to jump from blog to blog. You can post here, and also on your blog. Please provide a link on your blog, if you do, so people can find the other stories. Let's help give our fellow writers, exposure. Or you can link your blog in the comment section, along with your story, so someone can follow back.

There are 3, a Winners badge, an Honorable Mention and an Overachiever badge. To be eligible for the Overachiever Badge, you need to use all 3 prompts.

And here we go... All photos come from publicdomainpictures.net, courtesy of Linnaea Mallette, Circe Denyer, and Alex Borland.

  2. Bait

Jess'd tell us about how him an' his pap used to drive that old truck, rusted near through even then, down the levee to the water's edge.

They'd sit there all day into night watchin the boats paddle downriver.

Jess's pap took to baitin' gators, now Jess ain't got a pap, got no leg neither.

  3. I watched the monitors, I saw the fence, mile after mile of it. I saw a wolf, an eagle, a dog, a cat. It was true. Animals watched the fence. I saw the old trucks on one monitor, and a couple of the guard repairing a piece the fence. I’d seen those trucks countless times.
