55 Word Challenge: Week Fifty-One

Welcome back to #55WordChallenge!

For those that are uninitiated, the 55 Word Challenge is a contest to write a story in 55 words or less. Not an easy task, but fun and I have been blown away by some of the entries. See for yourself, all the past contests can be found here. The challenge begins at noon Eastern time every Wednesday and ends at noon Thursday. The story is based on one of three photo prompts and can be written in any genre you choose. My only request is no porn. I don't want to hear graphic details. If it is erotic, make it titillating, not obscene. I know that can be done and done well.

The story is to be posted in the comment section below, along with your twitter handle or email address, so I can contact you if you are the winner. If you don't want to list your email address, send it to me at
jezri@writing.com. I promise I won't distribute it, but if you are the winner I need a way to notify you and to send you your prize.

And what does the winner get? Unfortunately I am unable to continue on with the Gift card, for the moment. Hopefully this will change, finances will get better, blah, blah, blah...but I still have this purty badge for the winner to snatch and display however they want.

If anyone is interested in contributing a prize, a book, cover art, whatever you want, let me know and we will work something out. If you are an artist that would like to have your work featured, let me know!

Winner 55 Word Challenge: Week Fifty

Honorable Mentions:

@fetterslopez: I liked the feel of this story, the frustration… and the final ending.
@Klingorengi: Again, I liked how this story took off. The confusion mixed with the hunger. The ending tied it all together, speaking werewolf.
@WakefieldMahon: Interesting turn in the story. I liked it. J

Winner:
@bookwormattack: I knew that with so many of the stories based on the first photo that if anyone was going to win with it, they would really have to bring it. This story did all that and more. Read it here and see why.
The smell of cigar smoke and sweat lingered heavily upon Isabella's alabaster skin. A hopelessness and despair devoured her soul every minute she stayed in that horrid place. She was trapped.
A knock sounded on the door leading to her room and Isabella took a deep breath as she prepared for her next customer.

54 words @bookwormattack

This is Kayla's third win... or fourth. I'm not sure now, lol. Needless to say, her writing rocks. So I have a special prize for her, a digital copy of Fifty Shades of Decay. Let me know, Kayla, if what format you need it in, Kindle, Nook or other and I will get that sent to you.

Welcome back to #55WordChallenge! We took a break last week. Hopefully you are ready to dive back in.

Winner 55 Word Challenge: Week Forty-Nine

First, let me apologize for being so late. I truly meant to post the results two days ago and got distracted. Then it slipped my mind. I’ve also started a new job, so my schedule is thrown off track. I got home this morning at 5:30 had to be up at 6:30 to get the kids ready for school. (Really, my alarm went off and I yelled for them to get up and then I lay in bed until I had to roll out and physically drive them to school.) Came home and went back to bed until 10:30, when I had to get up and go pick up teen/adult and take her to her second school. Yes, she goes to two different ones. Multi-media which is teaching her how to be the best damn cartoonist is the first 3 hours of the day. I’m a bit tired. And then of course all these stories were so good, it wasn’t easy picking just 4.

Honorable Mentions:

@fetterslopez: I am a chocoholic. I see chocolate in my near future. Like tonight. And I don’t feel like sharing either, so I can understand Jerry’s viewpoint.

@J_M_Blackman: THWACK-TH Made me giggle.

@reravelling: I loved this. Had just the right element of fun and the hint of bad stuff to come.

Winner:

@bullishink: I laughed when reading this. And for some reason I kept picturing Meryl from The Walking Dead talking to Andrea.

Redneck Proposal

It ain’t much to look at now, but by the end of the week, when those metal screens are snapped in place and the cellar is laid with supplies, it’ll be safer than mother’s milk if those virus ridden dead heads come this way. So, you wanna hunker down with me or what, pretty lady?

#55WordChallenge is taking a break this week. But no need to cry, the fun will be back next week. I just need a chance to adjust to my new routine and I have some writing I need to get done. I’ve been neglecting it and my characters are starting to revolt. I have a book I am re-releasing tomorrow. It is called Jenny’s Secret, formerly known as The Wall. It has been edited by Rob Miller and I have new cover art by Thomas Arensberg. (If you can't wait until tomorrow for Amazon, Kindle and Kobo, it is already up on Smashwords.)

Winner 55 Word Challenge: Week Forty-Eight

Winner 55 Word Challenge
Week Forty-Eight

Honorable Mentions:

@Angelique_Rider: I am a huge Star Trek fan and for some reason this put me in mind of a Voyager episode,  Living Witness.

@bullishink: Very descriptive. I found myself gasping for breath.

@J_M_Blackman: I love the idea of a bus ride to hell. Reminds me of a Tales From the Darkside Episode, The Last Car.

Winner:
@bookwormattack: This story left me with a sickening feeling in my stomach. I couldn’t shake the image. I’m a mother and I cannot think of anything more horrifying than losing your child and in such a gruesome way. This is Kayla’s third win!  Congratulations. I think this calls for something special. Unfortunately I don’t have anything, but I will see what I can come up with.
Time seemed to stop as soon as the little girl stepped out in front of the bus. Her mother numbly watched as she bent down to retrieve the pink ball that had rolled out of her hands only moments before.
"Mommy look...
A sickening crunch filled the air as the bus made contact.

55 not including title.
Thank you everyone. See you next week.
